Cornwallis Elt is proud to announce that our Christmas charity donation will be supporting the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSH Charity). Over the past 4 years, the amazing team at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) have looked after Henry Kidd, the son of one of our Directors, James. We are delighted to express our thanks for all they have done during this challenging time.
As we have witnessed first-hand, GOSH has a profound impact on the lives of children in need, and this London-based hospital is renowned for its dedication to paediatric healthcare and is a beacon of hope for countless families.
Since its establishment, GOSH has been at the forefront of providing exceptional medical care and psychological support to children facing serious health challenges. The hospital strives to enhance the quality of life for young patients with a variety of medical conditions, including cancer, and supports their families throughout, and after, the treatment process. The overarching goal of GOSH Charity is to ensure that no child in the United Kingdom succumbs to the effects of serious illnesses.
Henry’s Story:
Henry, our first child, was born in November 2019. Two months into the UK’s first lockdown, at just six months old, we identified a lump in his left leg. Shortly after this discovery, he was diagnosed with an infantile fibrosarcoma – a rare cancer in such a young baby. Fast forward a couple of months, with plenty of tests, scans, and discussions, Henry had the tumour resected by the amazing Dr. Pollock. Under the care of Dr. Olga Slater, the Oncology Specialty Lead at GOSH, he has gone on to make the most amazing recovery. We consider ourselves fortunate, and during this time, we witnessed the incredible care and heard amazing stories happening at GOSH every single day. We benefitted from many additional services, such as play specialists, equipment and accommodation, which are funded by supporters’ amazing donations.
GOSH remains steadfast in its commitment to making a difference in the lives of children. The hospital continues to provide crucial support to families with children battling cancer and actively contributes to the advancement of childhood cancer care in the United Kingdom. Some of the ongoing programs include:
Comprehensive support for major hospitals with paediatric oncology units.
Targeted assistance to families, both within the UK and those who have been evacuated due to unforeseen circumstances, ensuring continuity of treatment abroad.
Continuous professional development initiatives for medical personnel.
Advocacy and government relations activities aimed at improving the quality and outcomes of treatment and cures.
