MI Data Analyst – PowerBI, SQL, Excel, Insurance  

Up to £65,000 base salary

My client is a leading specialty insurance and reinsurance business looking to hire a dedicated MI Analyst to join the Portfolio Management team. 

 

This role will involve facilitating better data and data-driven decisions to benefit the business’ underwriting strategy, covering requirements gathering, liaising and communicating with stakeholders, to create high quality analytics for both Specialty and Commercial lines of insurance.  

 

What is expected by the MI Analyst: 

  • Support Portfolio Management and Underwriting with data analysis and reporting.  
  • Collect and navigate requirements for new PowerBI reporting and deliver reports to stakeholders.  
  • Promote the use of data and MI within the business; investigating new software/concepts that may be useful.  
  • Manage stakeholders across multiple global offices and ensure strong communications are maintained. 
  • Be the point of contact for MI and provide relevant business knowledge. 

 

Essential skills required by the MI Analyst: 

  • Excellent communication skills, understanding stakeholder requirements and translating these into understandable reports/analytics.  
  • Relevant work experience gained in a similar role within the financial sector.  
  • Proven experience with PowerBI to build dashboards/reports to a high standard.  
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL databases, with ability to write queries.  
  • Effectively uses and manipulates data from complex databases to produce qualitative data for the business.  

 

Desirable skills required by the MI Analyst:  

  • Strong understanding of the insurance function and data requirements therein. Preferably a background within Lloyd’s market. 
  • An understanding of alternative ETL systems such as Alteryx. 
  • Understanding of Sharepoint functionality and PowerBI administration.  
  • Progression towards ACII. 
  • Previous experience of using Power Automate to deliver end user value.
